Pre-Easter Retreat March 20 - 22

Sign up now for this years Pre-Easter Retreat. We will be going to Alto Frio in Leakey, Tx on Thursday, March 20 and coming back on Saturday the 22nd. The cost is $60. Sign up at church on Sunday or Wednesday. You can also sign up online by filling out the info here and emailing it. We will email you the registration form and permission slip.

FBC Youth Help to Build Church in Uganda

Back in December, we heard from Sandy Marek, a missionary to Uganda. She shared with us about an opportunity to help reach the people of Uganda for Christ without having to leave La Vernia. There is a ministry that builds churches and names them in honor of the people who provided the means for it to be built.

Sandy and her family did that and had a church built in memory of her grandmother. The pictures of the church that was built and a close up of the sign with her name are shown here.

The youth of FBCLV thought it would be AWESOME for everyone to work toward the $2,000 goal and have a church built in honor of the FBC Youth. We will be tracking our status toward the goal and providing updates to let everyone know how close we are. It's cool to see that God is going to use a group of teenagers from little bitty La Vernia to reach people for Him on the other side of the world.

Youth Camp
Start earning your money for Youth Camp now by signing up for Taco Sunday! Contact Tami Gapinski to get on the list to supply tacos for Sunday mornings during Bible Study. Money earned for tacos helps to pay your way to Youth Camp. Once we know where we are going this summer, we will let you know.

Youth Calendar
We are working on the youth calendar for January, February and March and will let everyone know when it is ready.

Hope everyone has had great Christmas and Happy New Year! It looks like everyone survived the first week back at school and the joys of waking up early!

Don't forget - every Wednesday night we are doing "CrossTraining." This past Wednesday, Lacy Frieda and her band led in worship and then we split into small groups after a message from Karen Comeaux. You never know what to expect each Wednesday, so don't miss it!

Youth Visit Elf Louise to Gift Wrap

The FBC Youth visited Elf Louise on Saturday, Dec. 8 to help wrap gifts for needy families. It was amazing to see the warehouse filled with thousands of gifts waiting to be delivered. That is a reminder of how many people are in need this Christmas Season. It really makes us thankful for what we have, when we realize there are people who have nothing. Don't take anything for granted...from stuff, to family, to health. We only have what we have by the grace of God.

Guest Speaker Wednesday Dec. 5

This Wednesday, December 5 we will have a guest speaker who serves God by serving the people in the African tribes in Uganda. These are a very primitive people who live in huts and live without the things we take for granted. She raises her own money to pay for her trips to Uganda, so we will be taking up an offering to help her out. Please be prepared to give as you feel led to give.

We will be giving her the small group time to speak to us, so we will not break out into small groups this week.

Elf Louise

We will be going to Elf Louise this coming Saturday, December 8 to gift wrap toys for needy families. If you would like to go, please contact us and turn in a permission slip no later than Wednesday, Dec. 5. Permission slips can be downloaded Here. Get a chance to meet Josh this Wednesday who is coming as our guest speaker this week. This is a good chance for you to get to know him because he may be our next Youth Pastor at First Baptist. After his message, you will have a chance to ask him questions. There will be no small groups this week so we can spend more time with Josh. Hope to see you there!

Northwoods Ice Center - Youth Fellowship

Introducing The Youth of First Baptist Church of La Vernia on ice!
The youth went ice skating and we had a BLAST!!! No broken bones or injuries. I think the adults underestimated the youth. We all thought it could not be done. Congrats guys ya'll were great. Everyone can not wait till next time we go. ( We will definitely take Bro. Dave for a good laugh next time.)
